In 2005, The Sausage Man began as a humble market stall in Lewisham, born from founder David Rundel’s simple question: “Why can’t I find quality German sausages at events in England?” Frustrated by poor substitutes, the German ex-patriate turned his passion for authentic bratwurst into a thriving business. What started with a grill and a mobile catering van quickly grew from serving locals to supplying restaurants, wholesalers, and leading foodservice professionals.
By 2011 we were supplying over 300 businesses in the UK – including the German Embassy in London – despite not being a focused wholesaler.
The Sausage Man made the big decision to expand in 2012, bringing in new team members to grow our German sausage family. That’s when we shifted into a dedicated wholesale business model – a move that set the stage for everything we’ve achieved today as the UK’s #1 wholesaler of German food products.
2016 - Opening Doors at Dartford HQ
From one warehouse in Dartford to three, this hub now powers London, nationwide, and European deliveries, making it the beating heart of the company’s operations.
The journey began in 2016 with a single warehouse in Dartford, providing a central hub for managing stock, preparing orders, and coordinating daily deliveries across London. Its success laid the foundation for growth, and the operation has since expanded to three warehouses, allowing the company to efficiently handle not only London orders but also nationwide and European deliveries via trusted third-party couriers. Today, Dartford remains the heart of the company’s logistics, supporting its continued expansion and ensuring high-quality service across all markets.

We now supply an extensive range of authentic German sausages, hot dogs, and speciality foods not only to major national brands such as Aramark (Merlin), Winter wonderland at Hyde Park, Munich cricket club and events but also to smaller businesses and individual customers.
