Tapas UK heats competition

PROUD SPONSOR OF HEATS UK TAPAS COMPETITION

On the 17th of July 2025, Sheffield played host to a landmark moment in the UK culinary calendar — the first ever UK heats of the prestigious World Tapas Competition. Held over the 16th and 17th of July, the event welcomed 12 outstanding chefs from a variety of sectors. Eager to impress, each chef brought their unique skills and creativity, all competing for a chance to represent the UK on the world stage in Valladolid, Spain.

As proud sponsors of the competition, we were thrilled to have a selection of our products featured in the Innovation Challenge on the first day. During this challenge, chefs were invited to use ingredients such as our Pork Knuckle, BBQ Spare Ribs, Nürnberger, and the Jalapeño & Cheese Bratwurst to develop a tapas dish that was both inventive and inspiring. In doing so, they had the opportunity to experiment with bold flavours and showcase their culinary creativity.

It was an incredible experience watching our products transformed into elegant, flavour-packed creations.

  • Chef George Fodder used our BBQ ribs to make a rich and crispy croquette, and turned the Jalapeño & Cheese Bratwurst into a fiery sausage tostada – both bold and brilliant interpretations.

  • Chef Alan Paton, a self-confessed pork enthusiast, drew from his love for hearty flavours and used our Pork Knuckle and Nürnberger sausages to craft a warming sausage stew tapas – a dish that perfectly captured the versatility and depth of our range.

We’d like to offer a huge congratulations to Simon Coulter, who wowed the judges with his fresh, flavourful and innovative twist on traditional tapas. His winning dish secured him a well-earned place in the international finals in Valladolid later this year. His ability to blend creativity, precision, and bold flavour combinations made his plate truly unforgettable.

Also heading to Spain is runner-up Alan Paton, whose dish equally impressed and earned him a spot on the global stage.

We’re incredibly proud to have been part of such a vibrant, passionate celebration of food and talent. To all the chefs who took part — thank you for bringing your A-game and for showing just how far great ingredients and creative thinking can go.

Watch this space for updates from Valladolid — we’ll be cheering for Team UK! 🇬🇧🍽️
