We love Oktoberfest here at The Sausage Man, it really cheers up those autumnal days. Obviously it is an extremely popular event in Munich, however this celebration has become a staple in the UK calendar too. So, now is the time to plan one of the most enjoyable events of the year. We have a few hint and tips to help make your Oktoberfest unforgettable. Order your German food, drink and entertainment and make it feel like you are in an Bavarian beer hall.

What do I serve?

Firstly, you need the right dishes on the menu. Obviously the German cuisine is largely known as sausages. Everyone loves a Bratwurst, however we would also recommend the Weisswurst. A popular Bavarian sausage often found around this time of year. Commonly served with mustard, a pretzel and a delicious beer. However one important rule surrounds the Weisswurst – you must eat with your hands. What a bonus, no need for cutlery when this sausage is on your menu!

Bavaria is more than sausages

Oktoberfest features a lot of meat. Top of the menu is the Schwienshaxe otherwise known as our Roasted Pork Knuckle. You will find the Schwienshaxe in many Munich Beer Halls. This ham hock is an Oktoberfest favourite served with a bed of Sauerkraut and a potato side dish. Another option could be the Schnitzel, served again with a potato dish and a side of lingonberries, very German!

To soak up the beer For a break from the meat dishes, make sure you have plenty of Brezen to serve. An Oktoberfest must have, pretzels are perfect when served alongside a pint of beer. Oktoberfest is about celebrating

Last year we visited World Wide Festival UK at their London Oktoberfest at Dock X. This event was epic and we loved the effort everyone made with their lederhosen. The beers were flowing and the food was delicious. Plus they had the best oompah band, they had everyone up on their feet dancing the night away.
